Bulgaria, Electricity production 5.18 TWh, exports 1.68 TWh in January

The production of solid fuels in Bulgaria doubled in January 2022, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (NSI) on energy production and supply.

In January, 3.66 million tons of solid fuels were produced, which is 99.3% more on an annual level. On a monthly basis, the growth is 11.5%.

This growth was influenced by the production of electricity, which in January 2022 increased by 24.4% annually, to 5.18 TWh. On a monthly basis, the growth is slightly more than 3%.

The data show that the largest part of electricity was sold on the domestic market – 3.5 TWh. The remaining quantities, ie 1.68 TWh, represent exports.

Bulgaria’s natural gas deliveries rose 1.6% year-on-year to 387m cubic meters in January. Compared to December, the growth is over 5%.

NSI also reports an increase in the production and supply of automotive fuels. This shows that the situation is normalizing after the planned overhaul in the refinery near Burgas.
