Bulgaria: Bulgartransgaz seeks loan

Last month, Bulgartransgaz said that it has launched a tender for a 73.6 million euros contract for the procurement of equipment and the construction of gas interconnection with Serbia. The project for gas interconnection between Bulgaria and Serbia envisages the construction of gas pipeline with the annual capacity of 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas. Length of the Bulgarian section of the pipeline, stretching from the border to capital Sofia, is 62 kilometers.

Bulgarian state-owned natural gas transmission system operator Bulgartransgaz said that it is seeking to obtain a loan of 155 million euros with a 6-year repayment period, to be used for covering its working capital needs and financing investments. The statement from the company said that it is currently working on multiple infrastructure projects, including the expansion of Chiren underground gas storage facility, the construction of gas interconnection with Serbia, the participation in the liquefied natural gas terminal near Alexandroupoli in Greece. The cost of the financing should be no more than 2.5 % annually. The deadline for submitting offers is 5 March.
