Bosnia and Herzegovina: The expansion of NIS fuel network

Fuel retailer G-Petrol, a subsidiary of Serbian oil company NIS, is planning to lease another four petrol stations in Herzegovina, according to the application filed to the Competition Council of BiH.

G-Petrol intends to lease to stations in Capljina municipality, one in Grude municipality and one in Ljubuski municipality in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), with a lease period of 15 years from the date of takeover.

According to the Competition Council of BIH, this concentration will have an effect on the relevant retail market of motor fuels on the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The application does not state which stations G-Petrol is planning to lease, but considering the locations and their number, it is clear that these stations are currently operated by local company Ero under the Oktan brand.

In this way, G-Petrol is expanding its presence in Herzegovina, where it currently has gas stations in Mostar, Siroki Brijeg and Capljina. The company currently operates 27 petrol stations in BiH.

NIS Gazprom Neft entered the BiH fuel market by taking over OMV’s petrol stations in 2013.
