Bosnia and Herzegovina, Purchase price of natural gas has been increased by 21.7 %

The management of Energoinvest, the main importer of natural gas to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), said that the purchase price of natural gas has been increased by 21.7 % compared to the price valid for the first quarter of 2022.

Energoinvest Director Bisera Hadzialjevic said that Russian Gazprom informed the company on the new price valid for the second quarter of the year.

She said that Energoinvest receives new price from Gazprom every three months, adding that the new price means that the supply is secured for at least next three months. She said that the reason for the increase are high gas prices in Europe following Russian invasion of Ukraine.

However, independent energy experts criticized Energoinvest’s last year decision to change the route of gas supply. As of last April, FBiH receives gas via TurkStream, Bulgaria and Serbia, instead of previous route via Ukraine and Hungary. According to them, the new route means that FBiH is 100 % dependent on gas supplied by Gazprom.
