Bosnia and Herzegovina: Investment plan for Elektroprijenos BiH for 2020

The investment plan for 2020 of Elektroprijenos BiH, the company that manages electricity transmission system on the state level, was adopted by shareholders and this plan has to be approved by the State Energy Regulatory Commission (DERK).

The shareholders approved a plan which envisages investments worth over one million euros in energy infrastructure facilities in 2020, namely the reconstruction of three existing as well as the construction of eight new transformer stations with connecting transmission lines. The construction of two new transmission lines and the reconstruction of the existing one is also envisaged. The plan also includes the procurement of power transformers as well as the modernization of the telecommunication system.

Last month, Prime Ministers of two BiH entities – the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) and the Republic of Srpska (RS), Fadil Novalic and Radovan Viskovic agreed to unblock regular operation of Elektroprijenos BiH, thus enabling the continuation of investments in the country’s electricity transmission system. Elektroprijenos BiH did not invest any funds in the electricity transmission network in over two years since its operation was in blockade over several political issues between two entities, namely the appointment of the company’s management and the ratio of contributions to the company’s investment efforts.
