Bosnia and Herzegovina: HPP Visegrad sees surge in electricity production in March 2025

Hidroelektrane na Drini, a subsidiary of power utility ERS and operator of the Visegrad Hydropower Plant (HPP), reported a significant increase in electricity production for March 2025. The plant generated 120.21 GWh of electricity during the month, nearly doubling its February output of 63.97 GWh. Compared to March 2024, when production reached 103.63 GWh, this marks a notable year-over-year improvement.

Since the beginning of 2025, HPP Visegrad has produced a total of 273.38 GWh of electricity. In 2024, total generation amounted to 733 GWh, a decrease from the 1,224 GWh produced in 2023. The plant, which was commissioned in 1989, has a total installed capacity of 315 MW, divided into three units of 105 MW each. It typically produces an average of 1,010 GWh annually.

The plant’s record annual output was achieved in 2010, when it generated 1,283.05 GWh of electricity, underscoring its potential during favorable hydrological conditions.
