Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,310 GWh in October

According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,310 GWh in October 2021, compared to 1,272 GWh in the same month last year.

In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 27.2 %, thermal power plants with 69.6 % and solar and wind power plants with 3.2 %.

Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 323 GWh in October 2021, which is by 23.8 % lower than in the same month in 2020. Thermal production amounted to 821 GWh, which is 10.8 % more than last October. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 42 GWh, 75 % more than last year.

Electricity imports dropped by 16.9 % to 319 GWh in October from last year’s 384 GWh, while exports decreased by 22 % to 504 GWh (464 GWh in October 2020).

Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 670,000 tons in October 2021, which is by 14.5 % more compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal decreased by 5.2 % and amounted to 526,000 tons.

Natural gas imports in October 2021 amounted to 15.56 million cubic meters, 8.5 % less compared to a year before (17 million cubic meters).
