Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,226 GWh in July

According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,226 GWh in July 2022, compared to 1,282 GWh in the same month last year.

In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 25.9 %, thermal power plants with 70.6 % and solar and wind power plants with 3.5 %.

Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 316 GWh in July 2022, which is by 23.9 % higher than in the same month in 2021. Thermal production amounted to 776 GWh, which is 13.6 % less than last July. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 43 GWh, 48 % more than last year.

Electricity imports rose by 27.7 % to 392 GWh in July from last year’s 307 GWh, while exports also rose by 13.8 % to 587 GWh (516 GWh in July 2021).

Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 525,000 tons in July 2022, which is by 1.9 % more compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal increased by 18.4 % and amounted to 663,000 tons.

Natural gas imports in July 2022 amounted to 6.83 million cubic meters, 35.3 % less compared to a year before (10.56 million cubic meters).
