Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gross electricity production amounted to 974 GWh in September

According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 974 GWh in September 2022, compared to 1,198 GWh in the same month last year.

In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 20.7 %, thermal power plants with 74.8 % and solar and wind power plants with 4.5 %.

Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 200 GWh in September 2022, which is by 33.3 % lower than in the same month in 2021. Thermal production amounted to 659 GWh, which is 15 % less than last September. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 43 GWh, 59.2 % more than last year.

Electricity imports rose by 30.5 % to 411 GWh in September from last year’s 315 GWh, while exports dropped by 13.7 % to 423 GWh (490 GWh in September 2021).

Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 387,000 tons in September 2022, which is by 34.4 % less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal decreased by 6.2 % and amounted to 515,000 tons.

Natural gas imports in September 2022 amounted to 11.77 million cubic meters, 20.4 % less compared to a year before (14.78 million cubic meters).
