Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gross electricity production amounted to 1,186 GWh in August

According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,186 GWh in August 2022, compared to 1,288 GWh in the same month last year.

In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 19.2 %, thermal power plants with 77.5 % and solar and wind power plants with 3.3 %.

Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 226 GWh in August 2022, which is by 36.9 % lower than in the same month in 2021. Thermal production amounted to 831 GWh, which is 3.6 % more than last August. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 40 GWh, 60 % more than last year.

Electricity imports rose by 8.6 % to 352 GWh in August from last year’s 324 GWh, while exports also rose by 10.2 % to 573 GWh (520 GWh in August 2021).

Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 590,000 tons in August 2022, which is by 3.4 % less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal increased by 23.2 % and amounted to 663,000 tons.

Natural gas imports in August 2022 amounted to 10.46 million cubic meters, 2 % more compared to a year before (10.25 million cubic meters).
