Bosnia and Herzegovina, ERS is planning to develop a network of charging stations for electric vehicles

State-owned power utility ERS is planning to develop a network of charging stations for electric vehicles, in which it will invest some 1.3 million euros. If the plan is fulfilled, every fourth charger in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will be operated by ERS.

The public procurement plan foresees the creation of a feasibility study for 50 charging stations, which will cost some 300,000 euros, while their installation will cost up to 1 million euros. Finances are provided from own resources, and for now it remains unclear whether their use will be charged or will be free, as is the case at most stations.

So far, 180 chargers with 216 connectors have been installed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Most of them are available to everyone, while a certain number are available only for guests of hotels and shops.

The number of electric cars in BiH is still insignificant. According to available data, last year a total of 70 electric vehicles were imported and 48 were imported a year before. However, customs duties will not be paid on the import of new electric cars in BiH in the coming year in order to stimulate this type of transport. For cars with a hybrid drive, the customs duty will be lowered from 15 to 5 %.
