Bosnia and Herzegovina: EBRD launches tender for construction of three new solar power plants

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced a tender for the design and construction of three solar power plants on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s state-owned power utility, Elektroprivreda BiH (EPBiH). The tender includes the Podvelezje 3, Gornja Breza, and Visca solar power plants.

Interested bidders have until 26 May to submit their offers. The procurement will be conducted in two stages, with separate contracts awarded for each project.

EPBiH previously secured a 30-year concession for the Podvelezje 3 solar plant, which will be located in the Mostar area. This facility will have an installed capacity of 4.75 MW and will be constructed within the existing concession zone that currently hosts the Podvelezje wind farm.

The Gornja Breza plant, with a planned capacity of 15 MW, will be built on a former coal mine landfill in the municipality of Breza. It is projected to produce around 21.9 GWh of electricity annually.

The Visca solar power plant is planned for construction in the municipality of Zivinice, on the site of a former surface mine previously used for coal extraction.
