Bosnia and Herzegovina, Country exported 318 million euros worth of electricity in the first five months of 2022

According to data published by the BiH Statistical Office, Bosnia and Herzegovina exported 318 million euros worth of electricity in the first five months of 2022, which is by 85.5 % more compared to the same period last year.

In May alone, electricity exports amounted to 66 million euros and if such trend continues, the value of electricity export in 2022 could surpass 500 million euros. In 2021, BiH exported 423 million euros worth of electricity and 235.5 million euros in 2020.

BiH is, along with Bulgaria, the only country in the region which has surplus electricity. In 2021, surplus electricity amounted to 4,900 GWh, with electricity production amounting to around 17,000 GWh.

The country also imported 37.3 million euros worth of electricity in the first five months of this year .
