Bosnia and Herzegovina: Building of biomass power plant by Serbian company

Dejan Prosic, Mayor of Bosanski Petrovac explained that the municipality will sign a deal with the Serbian company for the construction of the plant in the next few months, after which the name of the investor will be revealed. An unnamed company from Serbia is interested in the construction of a combined heat and power (CHP) plant, a project worth some 2.5 million euros.

The new plant, which will be fired on wood chips, will be developed under a public-private partnership and will have electricity output of 1 MW and 4-5 MW thermal energy output.

The plant will be located in an area where the Bosanski Petrovac municipality plans to develop a 12-hectare industrial zone. The Serbian investor in the CHP project will be the first to arrive in the zone. The municipality plans to attract a total of 5 or 6 investors in the future zone, aiming to strengthen its wood processing industry.
