Albania, Free market price quadrupled in April

The Albanian Energy Regulatory Agency approved on April the price of electricity for April for free market businesses connected to the 35 kV network – 32.72 leks (0.27 euros) per kWh.

That is almost four times more than the prices recorded before the beginning of the energy crisis last fall.

According to the data of the universal supplier, a total of 20 million euros was spent on the purchase of 420 thousand kWh, while the weighted average price was 27.84 lek (0.23 euros) per kWh.

To this should be added other elements of the final price such as administrative costs, transmission and distribution tariffs.

The regulator also approved the price of electricity for companies connected to 20 kV, 10 kV and 6 kv, which entered the free market on January 1 this year.

They pay for electricity at a preferential price that is slightly higher than the average market price thanks to a contract signed with the Albanian Electricity Corporation KESH.

ERE set the price for this category of consumers at 19.69 leks (0.17 euros) per kWh for April bills.
