Albania: First wind tender launched

Albania has launched its first tender for the construction of onshore wind projects with a total installed capacity of 100 MW, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced.

The statement from the bank said that investors in individual projects with a capacity of between 10 and 75 MW should apply with their proposals for the sites of future wind farms in the first phase of the tender which is open until June 2022. The total installed capacity could be increased up to 150 MW in accordance with the country’s renewable targets. The winning projects are expected to be revealed in the first half of 2023. The tender is launched by the Albanian Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure with the EBRD support, which also supports the Government in the introduction of competitive procurement processes for renewable energy projects.

The EBRD reminded that the first wind tender follows the two successful 100 MW solar tenders, also organized in cooperation with the bank.
