Albania: ALPEX reports September 2025 trading

The Albanian electricity exchange, ALPEX, reported that the total volume of electricity traded on the day-ahead market in September 2025 reached 127.5 GWh. This represents a 27.2% decline compared to August, but a 35.7% increase compared to September 2024.

Of the total traded volume, 72.6 GWh were for the Kosovo bidding zone and 88.7 GWh for the Albania bidding zone. The average market clearing price was 109.5 euros per MWh, down 4.2% from August and 15.9% lower than the same month last year.

The total value of transactions on ALPEX in September amounted to 27.9 million euros, marking a 14% increase compared to September 2024.

ALPEX was established in October 2020 by the Albanian electricity transmission system operator OST and its Kosovo counterpart KOSTT. The exchange held its first Albanian auction in April 2023 and currently has 36 members across the Albania and Kosovo bidding zones.
