Albania: ALPEX appointed as NEMO

Albanian and Kosovan Energy Regulatory Authority ERE and ERO held a joint session last week and approved ALPEX, a joint venture of transmission system operators OST and KOSTT, as Nominated Electricity Market Operator (NEMO) for the two countries.

This is another important milestone for the implementation of the day-ahead market coupling of Albania and Kosovo, ALPEX said in a statement.

In July, the energy regulators of Albania and Kosovo nominated ALPEX as an operator of the electricity market of the two countries. On 11 April 2023, ALPEX successfully launched its day-ahead market.

The project was implemented with the support and contribution of the Athens Stock Exchange (ATHEX) and the Hellenic Energy Exchange (EnExGroup), as they are the providers of ALPEX’s infrastructure and services for its operation.
