Albanian electricity distribution system operator OSHEE said that all preparations for the entrance of 7,358 new commercial consumers into the free market as of 1 January 2022 have been made.
These companies should sign an electricity supply contract with the supplier on the free market. If they fail to do so, they will be supplied by the supplier of last resort (OSHEE subsidiary) at market prices, but only for a two-year period. If they fail to sign electricity supply contract within these two years (namely until 1 January 2024), then OSHEE will stop supplying electricity to them.
These are the companies connected to the 20 kV, 10 kV and 6 kV networks. Their entrance to free market comes at a very unfavorable time, because the market price of electricity currently stands at 0.21 euros/kWh, which is twice as much compared to what they currently pay.
