Croatia: CROPEX records higher year-on-year electricity trading in November 2025 despite monthly decline

In November 2025, a total of 1,182,744.1 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian energy exchange (CROPEX), representing an 18.4% decrease compared to October. Of this volume, 919,987.2 MWh was traded on the day-ahead market, while 262,756.9 MWh was exchanged on the intraday market. Despite the monthly decline, the traded volume was 27% higher compared to the same month last year.

The average daily base price on the day-ahead market in November reached 118.26 euros/MWh, marking a 4.5% increase from October. Meanwhile, the average euro-peak price climbed to 133.33 euros/MWh, up 12.5% compared to the previous month. On the intraday market, the average price was 119.07 euros/MWh, a 4.1% rise from October.

Daily trading activity on the day-ahead market averaged 30,666.2 MWh in November. CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). The intraday market was introduced in April 2017, enhancing market flexibility.

On 19 June 2018, the CROPEX day-ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through the Croatian-Slovenian border, following a joint project by Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, further integrating the regional electricity market.
