During the week of November 10, electricity demand rose in most major European markets compared to the previous week. Portugal recorded the largest increase at 5.8%, while Germany posted the smallest rise at 1.1%. Demand also grew in Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom by 2.2%, 2.9%, and 4.2%, respectively. All markets with rising demand registered their second consecutive week of growth.
In contrast, demand declined in France and Belgium, falling by 1.8% and 6.6%. The decrease was largely driven by the November 11 Armistice Day holiday observed in both countries. For France, this marked the end of a five-week upward trend.
Throughout the week, average temperatures were higher than in the previous week in most analyzed markets. Germany and France recorded the largest increases, at 1.1 °C and 1.0 °C. Italy and Portugal saw smaller rises of 0.1 °C, while Spain experienced a 0.3 °C increase. On the other hand, temperatures fell in Belgium by 0.3 °C and in Great Britain by 1.7 °C.
Looking ahead to the third week of November, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting expects electricity demand to increase across all monitored markets, driven by falling temperatures throughout Europe. In France and Belgium, the return to normal working schedules following the November 11 holiday will further contribute to rising demand, AleaSoft reports.
