Europe: Solar output falls, wind generation rises in mid-November

During the week of November 10, solar photovoltaic production declined across all major European markets compared to the previous week. Portugal recorded the steepest drop at 45%, while Italy experienced the smallest decrease at 11%. Production also fell in France, Spain, and Germany by 18%, 21%, and 27%, respectively.

Looking ahead to the week of November 17, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting expects solar photovoltaic generation to increase in the Spanish market but to decline in Italy and Germany.

In the same second week of November, wind energy production rose in most major European electricity markets. The Iberian Peninsula saw its second consecutive week of growth, with Portugal posting the strongest increase at 53% and Spain the smallest at 17%. Wind generation also increased in France and Germany by 29% and 40%, respectively. Italy, however, continued its downward trend for the third week in a row, registering an 18% decline.

For the third week of November, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting anticipates wind energy production to rise in the Italian and German markets, while decreases are expected in the Iberian Peninsula and France, AleaSoft reports.
