Romania: Romgaz posts strong nine-month results with 73% profit surge

Romanian natural gas producer Romgaz reported consolidated earnings of 480 million euros for the January–September 2025 period, an increase of 7 percent compared with the same interval in 2024.

The third quarter was particularly strong. Net profit for the first nine months of 2025 climbed to 151 million euros, marking a 73 percent year-on-year increase. This surge was driven primarily by a 19.4 percent reduction in total expenditures, with the most significant savings coming from fiscal obligations. Taxes and duties decreased by 63 million euros compared to the previous year.

During the same period, Romgaz generated total revenues of 1.22 billion euros, up 6.1 percent from January–September 2024.

National gas consumption for the first nine months of 2025 is estimated at 72.16 TWh, about 2.5 percent higher than a year earlier. Imports accounted for 22.79 TWh of that total, while domestic production supplied 49.37 TWh.

Romgaz strengthened its market position as well. Its deliveries accounted for 54.89 percent of estimated national consumption, a 3.3 percent increase compared to 2024. When considering only domestically produced gas, Romgaz supplied 80.23 percent of all Romanian-sourced volumes.
