According to data published by Bulgaria’s electricity transmission system operator ESO, the country generated 34.96 TWh of electricity between 1 January and 16 November 2025, marking a 7.22 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Electricity consumption also grew, rising by 5.91 percent to 33.15 TWh. As a result, Bulgaria recorded net electricity exports of 1.81 TWh in 2025.
Baseload power plants, including coal and nuclear facilities, produced 25.11 TWh during the period, a 5.5 percent increase year-on-year.
Renewables expanded strongly as well. Electricity generated from renewable energy sources in the transmission network rose by 18.24 percent to 3,602.1 GWh, while renewable output in the distribution network increased by 20.57 percent to 3,623.4 GWh.
