Thermal power plant Jertovec, located near Konjščina in the Hrvatsko Zagorje region, plays a key role in Croatia’s electricity system. The facility serves as a reserve power plant and provides an available capacity of 2×28 MW from gas turbine units and 2×10 MW from steam turbine units. One of its main advantages is the ability to start up within just 15 minutes of receiving a dispatch order, a feature increasingly important in today’s fast-changing energy market.
TPP Jertovec is also one of Croatia’s oldest thermal facilities. It was originally designed to use coal from now-closed local mines.
To ensure the plant can maintain its strategic role in the years ahead, a significant technological modernization is required, with a focus on replacing the gas turbines. In line with this objective, state-owned HEP Proizvodnja has launched a public procurement procedure to prepare the necessary study and design documentation for turbine replacement and integration into the existing combined-cycle system.
The estimated value of the procurement is 790,000 euros. The work is planned to be completed within 24 months, with a tentative start date of 2 February 2026. The deadline for submitting bids is 16 December of this year.
