Romania: Hidroelectrica exceeds one million customers, driving renewable energy transformation

Electricity producer Hidroelectrica has exceeded one million household and business customers on Romania’s retail electricity market, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth and diversification. Since entering the retail supply sector in 2020, Hidroelectrica has rapidly established itself as one of the country’s most trusted and influential energy providers.

The company’s success reflects the confidence Romanian consumers place in its commitment to clean, transparent, and stable energy services. Hidroelectrica continues to invest heavily in digitalization, customer service innovation, and the expansion of renewable energy, aiming to meet the evolving needs of a growing customer base.

As part of its modernization efforts, Hidroelectrica has introduced several initiatives to improve user experience and ensure efficient service delivery. A cornerstone of this transformation is the IHidro digital platform, which allows customers to easily access their consumption data, view bills, and make payments online. Additionally, the company has implemented advanced customer relationship management and data systems to deliver faster, more accurate, and personalized support.

Hidroelectrica remains Romania’s leading renewable energy producer, operating 188 hydropower plants with a combined installed capacity of 6.4 GW, alongside the Crucea wind farm, which adds another 108 MW of clean power generation. Through continued modernization and a strong focus on sustainability, Hidroelectrica is reinforcing its central role in shaping Romania’s green energy transition and securing a cleaner energy future.
