Bosnia and Herzegovina: TPP Gacko restored to full operation after boiler repair

The coal-fired thermal power plant in Gacko has been reconnected to the grid following the successful repair of a technical fault, according to Director Maksim Skoko.

The unit was temporarily taken offline on the morning of November 1 after operating continuously for 57 days, due to a malfunction in the boiler system caused by a ruptured pipe. Skoko explained that the damaged section was easily accessible, which allowed repair crews to complete the work quickly and return the plant to full operation in a short time.

During the downtime, the maintenance team conducted additional technical inspections and resolved minor issues in the turbine control system, valve fittings, and switching mechanisms. Skoko pointed out that such malfunctions are typical for a facility that has been in service for more than forty years and do not affect production goals or overall system reliability.

As of October 31, the Gacko power plant had exceeded its ten-month electricity generation target, reaching 103 percent of the planned output. Current coal reserves at the site exceed 100,000 tons, ensuring stable production in the coming months.
