Polish renewable energy developer and operator R.Power has started construction of the Lazuri solar power plant, a 55 MW facility located in the Lazuri commune in Romania’s Satu Mare county. The project is being carried out by NOMAD Electric, R.Power’s engineering and construction subsidiary.
The new plant will be connected to Romania’s national electricity grid through a 110 kV substation that links to the Vetis–Abator transmission line. Once operational, it is expected to generate around 70 GWh of clean electricity per year, enough to cover the annual consumption of more than 48,000 Romanian households.
The Lazuri solar project is supported by a 15-year contract-for-difference (CfD) awarded in Romania’s most recent renewable energy auction. It marks an important milestone in R.Power’s continued regional expansion.
According to the company, Romania remains one of R.Power’s key strategic markets, with additional solar and energy storage projects currently in development across the country. These initiatives underline the company’s long-term commitment to strengthening its footprint in the renewable energy sector of Southeastern Europe.
