Israeli independent power producer Econergy Renewable Energy has appointed Shanghai Electric as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the second phase of the Parau solar complex in Romania, which will ultimately reach a total capacity of 342 MW.
The project, located in Brașov County, recently secured a Contract for Difference (CfD) for 125 MW under Romania’s first renewable energy auction. The new contract further strengthens Shanghai Electric’s presence in the Romanian market, representing its fourth large-scale solar project in the country.
Shanghai Electric previously completed the 91.4 MW first phase of the Parau project, which achieved provisional acceptance in November 2024. With the signing of this latest agreement, the company’s cumulative installed and ongoing capacity in Romania has grown to around 550 MW as of October 2025, underscoring its expanding role in Romania’s rapidly developing solar energy sector.
