Electricity prices for businesses in Bulgaria decreased in the first half of 2025 compared to the second half of 2024, according to data from the National Statistical Institute. The only exception was the smallest corporate users consuming less than 20 MWh per year, who experienced a 6.9% increase.
The largest reduction was recorded among major industrial consumers using more than 150,000 MWh annually, where rates fell by 17.5%. All prices reported by the NSI include taxes, VAT, fees, and state compensation schemes.
Households, on the other hand, faced price increases across all consumption levels. The highest rise of 7.7% affected homes using less than 1,000 kWh per year, showing that low-usage households were the most impacted.
Natural gas followed a similar pattern. Business users saw higher prices in every consumption bracket in early 2025 compared to late 2024, with the strongest increase of 18.7% among users consuming between 100,000 and 1,000,000 GJ annually. Residential users also paid more, with the largest households, consuming over 200 GJ per year, experiencing a jump of 25.7%. In comparison, during the same period in 2024, nonresidential electricity and gas prices were generally falling, while household prices showed mixed trends.
