Bosnia and Herzegovina: Local company seeks environmental approval for 9.92 MW solar power plant in Brčko District

Micro Strategy Invest, a local company, has submitted a request for a preliminary environmental impact assessment as part of its plan to construct a solar power plant in the Vitanovici area within the Brčko District. The project, developed by Tehnoloski Eko Centar, is currently undergoing public review.

The planned facility will cover approximately 8.41 hectares and feature photovoltaic panels, inverters, four transformer stations, and a medium-voltage cable connection. According to estimates, the plant is expected to generate around 12.64 GWh of electricity annually.

Based on a conceptual design prepared by HMD Consulting in January 2025, the solar plant will have a total installed capacity of 9.92 MW and will be connected to the existing underground medium-voltage cable network through four transformer stations.

The project is linked to a special contractual agreement currently open for public discussion. Under this agreement, the Brčko District will transfer ownership of the land to Micro Strategy Invest. The District’s Tax Administration has valued the land at approximately 190,000 euros; however, the investor has requested a reduced price.

As part of the agreement, the Brčko District commits to facilitating the permitting process, ensuring all necessary documentation is obtained promptly to allow construction and operation of the solar facility. In return, the investor is obliged to meet all contractual commitments within two years from the finalization of the sales contract.
