Bosnia and Herzegovina: RS signs concession agreement for 79 million euro Bancici solar power plant

The Ministry of Energy and Mining of the Republic of Srpska (RS) and KH Alter Energy have signed a concession agreement to build the Bancici solar power plant near Ljubinje, with an investment valued at around 79 million euros.

The solar power plant will have an installed capacity of 102.72 MW and is expected to produce approximately 144.57 GWh of electricity annually. Minister Petar Djokic highlighted that this is the largest investment ever in Ljubinje, marking a significant milestone for the RS, the Herzegovina region, and Ljubinje’s future development. He also noted that Ljubinje will receive an annual concession fee between 500,000 and 600,000 euros, which is expected to fund new development projects in the municipality.

Dusko Odzaklic, co-owner and director of KH Alter Energy, revealed that about 5 million euros have already been invested in the project. He emphasized its importance for both the RS and Ljubinje, with plans to create employment opportunities, potentially encouraging some former residents to return to the area.
