Montenegro: EPCG completes overhaul of Unit A6 at HPP Perućica, advancing modernization efforts

Montenegro’s state-owned power utility EPCG has successfully completed the overhaul of unit A6 at the Perućica hydropower plant, marking a significant step in enhancing the facility’s efficiency and long-term sustainability. Following an inspection by EPCG’s management, the unit has been confirmed as fully operational.

As part of its broader development strategy, EPCG is continuing to modernize its electricity generation infrastructure. Similar refurbishment work is planned for unit A7, while the tender process is underway to select a contractor for the installation of a brand-new unit A8. These upgrades will expand Perućica’s total capacity and further strengthen Montenegro’s energy infrastructure.

EPCG CEO Ivan Bulatović highlighted the importance of these efforts for the country’s oldest large-scale power plant. He noted that the successful completion of work on unit A6 reflects EPCG’s commitment to modernization, with additional projects, including the overhaul of unit A7 and the installation of unit A8, already in progress. Additionally, the Zeta River water diversion project and the construction of the Krupac-Slano tunnel will significantly boost the plant’s production capacity.

Through these strategic investments, EPCG is reinforcing Montenegro’s energy security while ensuring the company’s sustainable growth. With a continued focus on modernization and reliability, HPP Perućica remains a key pillar of the country’s electricity system.
