Romania: Econergy’s 55 MW solar power plant now connected to national grid

Israeli renewable energy company Econergy Renewable Energy has announced that its 55 MW Scurtu Mare solar power plant in Romania is now successfully connected to the national grid. The plant is expected to begin commercial operations in the coming weeks.

With this new addition, Econergy now operates three solar projects in Romania, totaling approximately 300 MW of capacity. The company is also developing an additional 370 MW of renewable energy projects in Romania and plans to start construction on more than 500 MW of new projects within the year.

Econergy’s CEO, Eyal Podhorzer, highlighted the importance of the Scurtu Mare project, noting that it was developed from the greenfield stage. He emphasized that it represents the company’s commitment to becoming a leading independent power producer in Romania and across Europe. Econergy currently operates in multiple European markets, including the UK, Italy, Spain, Romania, Poland, and Greece, with a robust project pipeline of over 8.2 GW in solar and wind capacity and 10.6 GWh in energy storage projects.
