Bosnia and Herzegovina: HPP Visegrad sees significant increase in October electricity production

The Visegrad hydropower plant (HPP), operated by Hidroelektrane na Drini, a subsidiary of power utility ERS, has reported a notable surge in electricity generation for October 2024. The plant produced 46.77 GWh of electricity, marking a 90% increase compared to the previous month, when output stood at 24.59 GWh. In comparison to October 2023, when the plant generated 20.1 GWh, this year’s production reflects a strong upward trend.

HPP Visegrad, which was commissioned in 1989, has a total installed capacity of 315 MW (3 x 105 MW) and an average annual generation capacity of 1,010 GWh. In 2023, the plant produced 1,224 GWh of electricity, a significant increase from the 849 GWh generated in 2022. So far in 2024, the plant has already generated 604.28 GWh, positioning it well to meet its annual production target.

HPP Visegrad’s highest-ever annual generation occurred in 2010, when it produced 1,283.05 GWh of electricity. With continued improvements in performance, the plant remains a key player in the region’s energy landscape.
