Serbia: EPS reports €255 million profit in first nine months

Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic announced that the state-owned power utility EPS achieved a profit of nearly €255 million in the first nine months of the year, exceeding planned profits by 30%. Additionally, EPS earned €7.5 million from electricity trading in October.

Minister Djedovic highlighted the Serbian Government’s commitment to strengthening EPS through the development of new production capacities. Testing and inspections have been completed for the new B3 unit at TPP Kostolac, with final documentation for its takeover underway. This facility represents the first large-scale energy project completed in over 30 years.

Looking ahead, the minister noted that EPS is on track to complete its first wind farm and solar power plant next year. Plans include the construction of 1 GW of solar power with 200 MW of battery storage across six locations, further supporting decarbonization efforts.

Moreover, EPS is enhancing its portfolio by purchasing energy from other renewable producers under favorable conditions, following successful participation in the first auctions. This strategy aims to ensure energy security for both citizens and businesses in the future.
