Montenegro: Agenos Energy advances Vracenovici solar power plant project with network connection agreement

Local company Agenos Energy is progressing towards the construction of the Vracenovici solar power plant, having signed an agreement with Montenegrin electricity transmission system operator CGES to connect the facility to the grid.

The Vracenovici solar power plant, planned to have an installed capacity of 87.5 MW, will be situated in Vracenovici, near the Bosnia and Herzegovina border. It is scheduled to commence operations by 2028. The plant will be connected to the transmission network at the Vilusi location, which will require the construction of a new 220/110 kV substation. This substation will integrate with the existing 110 and 220 kV networks and is intended to serve as a connection point for additional power plants in the Vilusi area.

CGES emphasized that this development will enhance green energy production, decrease reliance on fossil fuels, and potentially reduce costs for future consumers. It represents a significant step towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly electricity system.

The Montenegrin Government granted a technical permit for the solar power plant’s construction a year ago. The solar panels are expected to cover an area of 125 hectares.
