Montenegro: 100 MW of solar panels to be installed on rooftops

By the end of 2024, around 100 MW of solar panels will be installed on the roofs of Montenegro, according to the President of the Board of Directors of EPCG, Milutin Đukanović.

EPCG announced that the German ambassador to Montenegro, Peter Felten, visited EPCG.

“During the conversation with the President of the Board of Directors, Milutin Đukanović, and the Executive Director, Ivan Bulatović, the ambassador was introduced to EPCG’s strategic projects, primarily in the field of renewable energy sources (RES), as part of an investment cycle worth around 400 million euros. The possibilities of cooperation between companies in the field of energy,” the announcement states.

EPCG said that Đukanović informed Felten of the company’s results and pointed out that a good plan had been made for the last three years.

“He emphasized the importance of development projects in the field of green transition, stressing the importance of realizing the ‘Solari 3000+/500+’ project in accordance with the business philosophy of ‘produce where you spend,'” the announcement reads.

The announcement adds that Felten is also familiar with “the enormous hydropower and solar potential of Montenegro, as well as the possibilities of using the existing hydropower infrastructure to connect solar power plants.”

“There was also talk about the importance of connecting the A8 unit to HPP ‘Perućica’, with particular reference to the excellent cooperation between our company and the German Development Bank,” EPCG said.

Bulatović expressed interest in joint activities with German companies in the field of energy.

“It is very important to use the experience and recommendations of Germany, as one of the key members of the EU, especially since we strive to fully comply with European regulations when implementing energy projects. Our investment ambitions are clear: clean energy, a healthy environment,” said Bulatović.

EPCG said that Felten expressed his satisfaction with the fact that EPCG has a development vision for the green energy transition, a significant capacity in terms of using renewable energy sources, and that “with full respect for international standards, it effectively improves the state of energy.”.

“The interlocutors agree on the assessment that there is room for improving cooperation between EPCG and respectable German companies, which would contribute not only to economic growth but also to the strengthening of interstate relations,” the announcement concludes, Vijesti reports.
