Romania: Average OPCOM day-ahead price reached 87.7 euros/MWh in January

The average price on the day-ahead market of the Romanian electricity exchange OPCOM amounted to 87.67 euros/MWh in January 2024, which is 35.6% lower compared to the same month in 2023 and 8.% higher compared to the previous month, (80.95 euros/MWh in December 2023).

In the same period, traded volume reached 2.07 million MWh, 1% more than in January 2022 and 32% more than in December. Average traded volume in January 2024 amounted to 2,788.1 MWh/h.

The total value of transactions in January amounted to 186.6 million euros.  The share of the day-ahead market in forecasted net consumption in January 2024 amounted to 43.7%.

In January, 161,588.7 MWh was traded on the intraday market, with an average price of 95.1 euros/MWh.
