Republic of Srpska: Financial construction for the HPP Bistrica project to be closed by the end of 2023

Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Radovan Viskovic and representatives of the Chinese Exim Bank and the AVIC company discussed the project for the construction of a hydropower plant Bistrica.

During the negotiations regarding the conclusion of a financing agreement, they expressed the expectation that the financing agreement for the construction of HPP Bistrica should be finalized by the end of this year.

RS has financed one-third of the estimated value of HPP Bistrica construction using its funds, while the remaining amount will be secured through credit funds. The construction of the power plant is expected to be completed by early 2027.

The HPP Bistrica complex consists of three cascade hydropower plants (B1, B2a and B3) on the lower course of the Bistrica River near Foca. The combined installed capacity of the three HPPs is 39 MW, with an estimated annual electricity generation of 152 GWh. The project is worth 103 million euros and the investor is “Hidroelektrane na Drini”.
