BiH: EIA study is not necessary for Planik solar power plant

Bosnian company B&B Sunce i Vjetar, who obtained a concession for the construction of the Planik solar power plant and wind farm in Bileca, is preparing for the construction. The company submitted an environmental impact assessment (EIA) request for the Planik solar power plant in June, along with the application for an environmental permit, which is now available for public inspection. From the available documents, it is evident that conducting an environmental impact assessment and obtaining an impact study is not mandatory and is valid for two years from the date of the decision.

The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska has amended the location conditions, changing the provision that states that the investor “must” prepare an environmental impact study to “is not obliged.” The solar power plant will cover an area of 118 hectares and will have a total installed capacity of 80 MW and an estimated annual electricity production of 106 GWh.

Trinasolar TSM-DEG21C-20-665 Wp Vertex photovoltaic modules have been selected for the construction of the plant. The photovoltaic system consists of 144,360 monocrystalline solar panels with a capacity of 665 W each.

The solar power plant is expected to be built within two years. The concession is granted for 27 years. The Planik wind farm will have an installed capacity of 39.6 MW and an estimated annual electricity production of 93.2 GWh, with construction planned for two and a half years. The concession for the wind farm is granted for 27.5 years.
