Slight to moderate rise in spot prices on Wednesday

Day-ahead electricity prices for delivery on Wednesday, December 21, rose on most exchanges in Europe, by 4% to 30%. The Serbian market is the only one, besides the Spanish one, to record a drop in the spot price, by 3.9%, to 209.57 euros per MWh. It is also the lowest day-ahead price in Southeast Europe.

The spot price in Romania and Bulgaria increased by 5%, to 224.34 euros per MWh, and in Hungary by 6.1%, to 227.53 euros per MWh.

The Greek price increased by 20.6%, to 261.28 euros per MWh, and the Slovenian and Croatian prices by 5.5%, to around 225.5 euros per MWh.

Spot prices in Central Europe ranged from EUR 188.1 per MWh in Poland to EUR 248.82 per MWh in Switzerland.

The lowest price in Europe, as on Tuesday, was recorded by Spain and Portugal – 64.09 euros per MWh.
