North Macedonia, Gross production of electricity in September 484 GWh

The gross production of electricity in North Macedonia increased in September by 4.1% on an annual basis, to 484,239 MWh, the statistical office announced, referring to preliminary data.

Net electricity production fell by 0.6% compared to September last year, to 432,401 MWh, Maxstat said in a statement.

Thermal power plants had the largest share in gross domestic electricity production in September, with 236,665 MWh, which is a decrease of 2.3% compared to the same month in 2021.

Hydropower plants produced 89,004 MWh of electricity, which is 84% more compared to the same period of the previous year.

The production of wind farms increased by 12.5% compared to the previous year, to 7,793 MWh in the observed month, while biogas plants produced 1,599 MWh of electricity, 57.9% less compared to the same month in 2021.

Solar parks produced 2,136 MWh in September, which is 5.7% less compared to the same period last year.

In September, the import of electricity to North Macedonia decreased by 36.3% on an annual basis, to 69,297 MWh. Electricity exports amounted to 119,522 MWh, which is more than double the increase compared to 45,078 MWh in September last year.

Losses in distribution decreased by 12.5% on an annual basis, to 38,664 MWh in September.
