Hungary, HUPX organized the first GO auction in Europe

On 20 September, Hungarian energy exchange HUPX organized the first guarantees of origin (GO) auction in Europe, where all market participants active in any AIB member have the opportunity to sell GOs. The first pan-European GO market will then hold monthly auctions, therefore the second auction was hold on 18 October.

At the auction on 18th October, the GO prices continued to rise, Hungarian GOs were sold at 5.23 euros/MWh, while French GOs reached 5.37 euros/MWh on average. These prices mark the growing demand for green energy, as they exceeded 5 euros/MWh for the first time ever. The traded volume was 512,857 MWh with 19 market participants and 92 % of the offered AIB standard guarantees of origin were sold on the auction.

While at the previous auction Norwegian and Hungarian GOs were traded, now French and Hungarian GOs were sold, which is further strengthening HUPX’s role as a pan-European green energy market.
