Greece, Natural gas consumption in the country in September has been reduced by 40 %

Greek Minister of Energy Kostas Skrekas said that the natural gas consumption in the country in September has been reduced by 40 % compared to the same month last year, in addition to increased exports to Italy and the Balkans.

Speaking at the gas conference in Bucharest, Minister Skrekas said that Greece has exported almost 2 billion cubic meters of gas so far in 2022, compared to 0.7 billion cubic meters exported in the same period last year. In 2022, Greece has exported more than 18 TWh of gas to Bulgaria and more than 2 TWh to Italy.

At the same time, liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports, arriving at Revythoussa facility have almost doubled, compared to 2021.

He also reiterated that gas interconnection between Greece and Bulgaria will start commercial operation on 1 October.
