Bulgaria, BEH will make a contribution of 233 million euros to the Energy Security Fund

Outgoing Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said that state-owned Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) will make a contribution of 233 million euros to the Energy Security Fund, which will allow the state to continue providing compensations to businesses to mitigate the impact of high electricity prices on their operations.

Bulgarian Employers’ Associations have earlier presented two main requests from the Government regarding the energy compensations. The first is that the compensation for high electricity prices should remain at 125 euros/MWh, but non- residential consumers should pay this price directly and not wait for about a month for a refund from the state.

Secondly, they demand that the source of funding for these energy compensations should be the Energy Security Fund, which should be filled by taxing extra profits of all energy producers, not only state-owned ones.
