Croatia, Funding for municipal solar and geothermal projects

Earlier this week, the Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds Natasa Tramisak signed decisions on the allocation of funds for projects to increase the capacity for the production of solar and geothermal energy, with the total value of the grant of 11.8 million euros.

The decision on financing within the call for increasing the capacity for solar energy production was made for 19 projects, the total value of which is about 9.6 million euros, while within the call for increasing the capacity for geothermal energy production the decision on financing was made for three projects with a total grant value of 2.2 million euros.

The Ministry is the manager of the “Energy and Climate Change” program, which aims to support activities in the field of renewable energy development and energy efficiency in Croatia. Program activities are implemented with the professional support of the Energy Institute Hrvoje Pozar and through cooperation with the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Administration in the role of donor partner in the program.

Funds for this program, available under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021, amount to 17 million euros, with a national contribution of 3 million euros.
