Romania, Engie and Saint-Gobain announced a partnership for the construction of the largest on-site solar power plant

Engie Romania and Saint-Gobain Romania announced a partnership for the construction of the largest on-site solar power plant in Romania, located within the company’s glass factory in Calarasi.

The power plant will have an installed capacity of 8.6 MW, while the produced electricity will be used 100 % for self-consumption at the factory. The ground-mounted solar panels will provide approximately 20 % of the electricity needs of the glass factory in Calarasi, thus reducing CO2 emissions by 2,400 tons per year. The amount of green energy produced is estimated at over 14,000 MWh per year.

CEO of Engie Romania Eric Stab said that the partnership with Saint-Gobain is another step towards consolidating the company’s expertise in providing green energy solutions, customized for the needs of the customers.

Ovidiu Pascutiu, CEO of Saint-Gobain Romania said that sustainability is one of the company’s priorities, and this investment is a natural step in achieving environmental goals in Romania, substantially contributing to reducing the carbon footprint, in line with the company’s Grow & Impact strategic plan, which underlines its strong commitment to protect existing resources and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
