Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,393 GWh in February

According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,393 GWh in February 2022, compared to 1,948 GWh in the same month last year.

In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 31.6 %, thermal power plants with 65.6 % and solar and wind power plants with 2.8 %.

Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 436 GWh in February 2022, which is by 53.8 % lower than in the same month in 2021. Thermal production amounted to 821 GWh, which is 6.1 % less than last February. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 39 GWh, 18.2 % more than last year.

Electricity imports rose by 17.9 % to 204 GWh in February from last year’s 173 GWh, while exports dropped by 50.6 % to 524 GWh (1,060 GWh in February 2021).

Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 490,000 tons in February 2022, which is by 7 % less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal increased by 3.4 % and amounted to 490,000 tons.

Natural gas imports in February 2022 amounted to 31.12 million cubic meters, 11.5 % more compared to a year before (27.92 million cubic meters).
