North Macedonia, Gross electricity production 470 GWh in February

Gross electricity production in northern Macedonia in February 2022 decreased by 5.6% annually, to 470,132 MWh, the statistical office said on Tuesday, citing preliminary data.

Net electricity production fell 7.8% year-on-year to 438,766 MWh in February, Makstat said in a statement.

Thermal power plants had the largest share in the gross domestic production of electricity in February – 53,588 MWh, which is 60.4% more than in February 2021.

Production in cogeneration plants and thermal power plants for automatic production amounted to 141,805 MWh in February, down 1.7% year on year.

Hydropower plants produced 59,567 MWh of electricity, which is 67.1% less than in the same period last year.

The production of wind farms increased by 15% annually, to 9,829 MWh, while biogas plants produced 3,673 MWh of electricity, which is 16.3% less than in February 2021.

Solar parks produced 1,671 MWh, which is 1.8% more than in February last year.

At the same time, electricity imports increased by 2.1% annually, to 275,437 MWh. Electricity exports amounted to 12,454 MWh, which is a decrease of 60.4% compared to the same period last year.

Distribution losses rose 1.1% year-on-year to 105,017 MWh in February.
